MentorProgram
YP to YP program in 2010. A sub-committee has been created. This sub-committee will brainstorm ideas, research other mentor programs, application forms, criteria’s. They are sending this information gathered to us prior to next meeting
Advanced Education Events
Our committee proposes to work with other committees to plan these advanced events. We propose to review the yearly calendar of events to evaluate programming “holes”, we could research possible topics/pull from our already compiled resource of speakers and offer suggestions to the appropriate committees on program topics. If we discover a programming hole that doesn’t fit into a certain category the education committee will take on planning that particular event. We could also have an Ed. Committee liaison (or liaisons) that attend other committee meetings and assist by offering educational resources (speakers, topics, ideas, past program history/topics) that would then assist the committee in planning their events.
Entrepreneurship will be holding an advanced education event in April.
Sept./October would be the appropriate time to host the second advanced ed event.
Marketing Committee
Our committee did not meet in January. Our next meeting is this Thursday, February 4. The marketing committee would like to change our email promotions format. Instead of sending individual emails for each event, we would like to begin sending more consistent communications by doing a standard email every two weeks. We plan to restructure our committee by creating small teams to tackle marketing projects. The YP of the Month program is moving forward. We are looking for a volunteer on our team to help clean up the email list in Constant Contact.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee met on Jan. 15thand developed an action plan for achieving the goals laid out in the Strategic Plan – Member Services. Our committee will work to ensure that at least 24 presentations on YPG are given in 2010. The committee will also help Molly and all of the rally cats get their internal company YPG programming and communications in place. To help grow our membership, we also will be reaching out to the local colleges and Universities. We have had initial discussions with the UNL Career Services offices on partnering with them to help their students better prepare for the college/career transition. We will again be hosting four Membership Orientations. The dates for orientations in 2010 will be Feb. 23 11:30-Chamber, April 1st4:00 – NHI (before Netquirking Event), June 9th7:30am-Chamber, and Sept. 14 11:30-Chamber. Please have at least two individuals from each of your committees in attendance. E-mail Ali and Stacy who will be attending on behalf of your committee a week prior to the orientation. . In addition, our committee is working with the marketing committee to update the YPG PowerPoint. This year our renewal process is going to be more streamlined. We will begin promoting renewals in late March and all members will be invoiced April 1st. The annual membership fee will be $35 through May 31st. For anyone joining after June 1st, the membership fee will be $45.This will help to shorten the renewal season and incentivize members to renew in a more timely manner. We will also be putting out our annual survey in Sept. to enable us to use the data in our Strategic Planning Session. Please have your committee forward the Membership Committee any questions that you would like to see in the survey to assist your committee with programming and meeting members needs by Aug 15th. To improve our communication to our membership base we will also be rolling out a Quarterly Newsletter in March. Our plan is to have the newsletter help communicate and celebrate the successes of our organization and keep all YPG members up to date and engaged.
YP of the month – we discussed this idea back in 2009 and had a laugh about it because of the fact that Luke M. has been the featured YP forever…. So this was going to alleviate this situation. The membership committee will be the governing body that selects the YP of the month. Anyone can select a YP of the month and that application is available on the website. You can visit the website to take a look at the form. The committee will select one member to honor per month and this individual will be interviewed as a star city six person for strictly business and they will also be interviewed on the morning show on KLIN for a few minutes in the month of their honoring. The honoree will also be announced at the netquirking each month, and they will receive a little crystal or award of some kind. The membership committee selected Adam Hayes as the winner of this first YP of the month and he will be honored in March -- Once we get the ball rolling with one winner, more nominations are bound to roll in.
Going forward our committee will be meeting the last Thursday of the month.
Networking Committee

Our “Being a Board Member” luncheon drew 50 people and rave reviews. Our Round Robin had 8 nonprofits and 10 YPs participating resulting in 35 matches! Every nonprofit was matched with at least 3 YPs so I am confident there will be a lot of placements. Both nonprofits and YPs were very pleased with the event only had minor suggestions for next time. Overall, they loved the opportunity to meet each other and the organization of the event.
UPCOMING: We will again be selling annuals through Campbell’s and the committee decided to donate the funds to Fresh Start, a home for women transitioning out of homelessness. We just got the info to marketing and hope to sell them at events in February and March before the 15thwhen orders are due.
